Project Me

Students will have the opportunity to design and develop a Passion Project of their choice, something that excites, inspires, or deeply interests them. Whether it’s building a business idea, exploring an art form, creating a community initiative, or developing a technical skill, the project belongs to them.

Mentors help learners:

  • Identify their goals and what success looks like.

  • Develop the right skills, from research and communication to problem-solving and digital literacy.

  • Plan and manage their time to move from ideas to action.

  • Reflect and review progress so they can see how far they’ve come.

  • Visit places that relate to their passion and meet with experts they can receive advice from.

As they shape their vision, we will work alongside them to identify the academic, personal, and practical skills they need to bring it to life. This means not only supporting them in planning and completing their project, but also equipping them with transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication, digital literacy, and resilience, skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom

Making Learning Fit

We provide part-time alternative provision for students who struggle in mainstream education, offering flexible programmes of up to 18 hours per week that focus on both academic and personal growth.

We support students who struggle to stay in education because they lack the personal and social skills needed to cope with challenges, manage emotions, or stay motivated.

These difficulties are often heightened for learners with additional needs, both those with formally identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those whose needs may not have been assessed.

Our approach focuses on:

  • Early Identification and Support: Recognising that some learners may not yet have an official diagnosis, we use observation, assessment, and close collaboration with families and professionals to identify potential barriers to learning and provide timely support.

  • Personal and Social Skill Development: Equipping students with strategies to build resilience, self-regulation, and positive relationships, enabling them to manage challenges effectively.

  • Inclusive and Individualised Support: Tailoring interventions to meet diverse needs, ensuring every learner feels understood and supported.

  • Strengths-Based Approach: Helping students uncover their strengths and interests to boost confidence, engagement, and motivation to learn.

Diagnostic Testing

Diagnostic testing is a cornerstone of our approach to effective tutoring, allowing us to tailor each student's learning journey from the outset. Through these assessments, we identify specific strengths and areas for development, giving us a clear snapshot of the student’s current knowledge, skills, and understanding.

Diagnostic tests go beyond surface-level testing; they uncover underlying misconceptions or gaps in foundational skills that may impact the student’s progress. With this detailed insight, we design a personalised learning plan that targets each student’s unique needs, ensuring that every session focuses on closing knowledge gaps and building a strong foundation for accelerated learning.

Life Skills

Life skills are at the heart of preparing students for the real world.

We focus on equipping young people with the practical abilities and personal strengths they need to navigate everyday life and future employment with confidence.

Our life skills lessons are designed to develop character excellence, equipping learners with emotional intelligence to manage feelings and build empathy, resilience to overcome setbacks and adapt to change, and a strong sense of responsibility to take ownership of their actions.

Provision Policies

Important:  Compliance

At FIIT learning we have a set of mandatory policies to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and to safeguard the welfare, learning, and development of all students. These policies provide clarity and consistency for staff, parents, and external partners, setting out clear expectations and procedures for areas such as safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour, curriculum, and equality.

Having these policies regularly updated and accessible demonstrates the school’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and best practice. You can view our full list of statutory and key policies by clicking on the link below.
